Hey, I'm building a thing for record people.

The idea for this device came when my twin brother recently dusted off my record player and threw on a record. He was immediately hooked. Our Brooklyn apartment filled with records over a short few days with daily packages arriving, constant listening sessions and visits to the local stores.The journey has been amazing and has brought us together through our love of music. Throughout this process I wasn't able to keep up with the purchase history; I'd hear things I loved and was always asking what was playing.

I found an old Pi, grabbed a screen and a couple of components, and started building. I've been working on this for the last few weeks now, and it's morphed into a project I want to share with the community.

Custom hardware in a 3D-printed case
iOS companion app
QR pairing flow to set up the device
Recognition algo that verifies the pressing, not just the album, and confirms you actually own that copy
Listening history, play counts, stats
Light social layer for adding friends and seeing what they're spinning

What I haven't figured out yet

Production at any real scale, every unit is still hand-built right now
Pricing, still working it out and won't pull a number out of thin air
A ship date, same answer, won't pin one until I'm sure
